Dieting ... a journey to a better Health

Current Weight: 68kg

Started this app called MyFitnessPal which is powered by Under Armour. Foudn this one reading a Blog of a Heart Attack Survivor, his journey from being a obese and to capturing his health back and now living a much healthier. He also recommended a book about reversing diseases, How Not to DIE by Dr. Michael Greger. That book is really scary and eye opener i think.

Since was having and issue with my bowel movement. i keep on searching for answeres on how to prevent nad have natural movement without the use of any poop inducer like Senna or Prune Juice.
Started to learn about the Whole-Plant Based Diet(WPBD) and been trying for 5 days now. The Results are astounding. I've been moving bowel on a daily basis now and have no problem releasing as well as compared to like 6-7days ago which is my last constipation episode.

So what's with the WPBD? Well, I've been eating vegetables most of my stay here in Japan. Primarily due to my High Bad Cholesterol Level. I think it was like 2-3 years ago when i decided to stop eating pack lunch at work and start to cook my own food. i did finally lowered my Bad Cholesterol at almost normal level. But since learning about it. I started to go back again to my old habits of eating meat and junk food, though in a much controlled manner, But still i brought it back.

So what's with the WPBD again? Since learning about this. I've been listing food that falls to this category. Taking photos of what is available at our local supermarket and what are applicable to my needs. Prior to this. i already bought some ingredients before like flax seeds and Chia seeds and eating Taro and Raddish for my Constipation issue. what i did change now is my rice. I changed to brown rice.  So what is WPBD again? it is all vegetable diet and does not include processed ones. You can put them but the lesser the better.

My food is still simple right now and adding addtional vegetable i can eat due to being cautious of having another constipation attack. below are the ones i am eating now.

for Salad, i have , steamed cabbage, cucumber and tomato, i added flavored egg (Ajitsuke Tamago),a ramen egg lately started doing them this week, i still have one in the ref and plan to make more while reusing my marinade concoction. for dressing, i still use the Sesame Seed Dressing since i still have it in the Ref. Planning to move on with mustard sauce  and balsamic vinegar for a more natural ingredients later.

for Lunch and Dinner i have 2 variants for now

1. Spinach(50g) and Eggplant(50g) and onions in Coconut Milk with Brown Rice(100g)
2. Vegetable Sinigang with Taro Root(50g) and Raddish(50g) spiced with Onions and Cayenne with Brown Rice

Next i will be introducing Hearts of Palm or Ubod. i will be doing Lumpiang Ubod without the Wrapper. Will be making sauce with it so i will be adding sugar, just enough to taste.

For Snacks, mainly to prevent me from acidity, i am eating 75 grams of Roasted peanuts in the duration of the day.

I am drinking frequently. a bottled Green Tea from Coca Cola since i am battling urinary track infection as well, maybe due to the anti-constipation medicine i took a month back. Maximum of 2 Liters per day.

I am listing and planning all of my meal using the MyFitnessPal App. I find the Browser edition more user friendly. but nontheless they are the same and synced to one another as long as you login.

So after 5 days of tracking my intake and exercise. I already lost atleast 1kg. This is making me excited and it is really promising and thinking i can now, after a long time of aiming for a 65kg weight, it is now achievable! Well if and only if i keep this focus on this Diet. Well i think there is no turning back. I am getting result both on my Bowel movement and weight and i dont feel acidic lately. Come and join me again, I will update you after 2 weeks on my weight and additioanal vegetable and fruits that works for me. Till next time! Ciao!

Starting Over at 40

Starting Over at ioh
by Pilosopong Balot.

This blog was certainly forgotten afte I became employed and busy with work back when i was in Singapore. I found it again when a post I did back sprouted on my feed in Facebook. Was thinking to get back into this and share some life stories- since i started journaling daily with my OneNote. I might as well update this, the good and the struggles and well anything basking under the sun. hoping this will continue forever from now on.

This year started with a happy memory. I got married, yeah that's before I celebrated my 40th Birthday. My family went to Japan and really enjoyed their stay here. But I wish there were snow, but what they just experienced was just plain Cold and Rainy Days. Something I was not hoping. But nonetheless, really glad they were able to go and experienced Japan.

The COVID19,  or Novel Corona Virus 2019, a yet to be named virus back then  was starting to get a foot hold in the Japan. I was really scared with it and really anxious since me and my family rode buses filed with Chinese Tourist. We still don't know the extent and the severity of the virus but we were all preapred with mask and alcohol with us. My younger brother started to feel bad after our Disney trip. He started vomiting in the bus on our way back from Disney. That really scared me! But fortunately, later on he became better after taking some medicines. They were able to get back in the Philippines without a hitch. I am so happy things went well and all were safe and back.

On the other hand, I started to have runny nose and a bad cough the day i fetched them to the airport. That too made me anxious and really scared if I contracted the "New Unknown Virus". Since I have fever for 2 days. I  decided to visit the clinic  just to be sure. I had a flu test at it came negative for the flu. I was given some medicines for the Colds(it might be just a common cold that i got and being restless for some weeks now and became vulnerable and contracted one.

It was a first in the 4 years of living in Japan that I had consulted a doctor for my colds. well I seldom have one and always i rely on my immune system to fight back the virus. But since i was worried that it will turned out to be the "New Virus". I did go to the Doctor just to make sure. Oh well the meds are working i guess. the fever came down the next day and the coughing started to subside as well. Still felt bad  and decided to take a day off so not to spread the virus with my colleagues... and then another problem came...

Suddenly, I had constipation. a type that is so bad I need to cry when ever I tried pushed it out. hahahha. Honestly, it was so bad that I became worried . I had an episode before back in SG and felt so bad about a doctor that gave me a medicine that made it worse. Back then I am not sure what triggered it. But speculating maybe due to Antacids I was having before. Moving forward, those times flashed back and since I was having the constipation for 2 days, I decided to consult another doctor for advice and medicine. I don't want this to grow to a point it would be painful everytime I need to go.

And so I went to the hospital and  the Doctor and told me that the cough medicine that I took a week ago causes it,  just what I thought so too. The timing made it clear. And she gave  me some poop softener and poop inducer to help with. Had it for a few days and things went normal ... but after the medicine effect lasted, the problem came back. Looks like the cough medicine's constipation effect was still in effect. Went to do some crazy experiment. Drink wine to make the medicine effect subside. It went to work at first but still the condition came back after the medicine effect subsided...

Moving forward to today... April 16,2020. After so many readings and findings. I stumble to a blog that talked about reversing diseases like Heart issues thru Whole Food Plant Based Diet. I was on a Starch Resistant Diet, it was effective but still i need to.... つづく
